About US

The All India Panchayat Parishad (AIPP) is a government-recognized autonomous apex federation of Panchayati Raj Institutions, established in 1958 with the vision of empowering grassroots democracy and strengthening rural self-governance in India.

Formed at a historic conference held in Giridih, Bihar, under the guidance of visionary leaders like Shri Balwant Rai Mehta, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan, and Shri Gulzari Lal Nanda, AIPP has remained committed to addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by rural communities. Shri Balwant Rai Mehta served as its first President.

AIPP works tirelessly to promote decentralized governance, ensuring that local issues related to agriculture, health, education, natural resource management, and unemployment are addressed effectively through empowered Panchayati Raj Institutions. It played a pivotal role in the historic 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act (1992), which gave constitutional status to Panchayats, and later, in the establishment of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in 2003, realizing the long-standing dream of Mahatma Gandhi.

Our organization continues to advocate for the constitutional rights and financial autonomy of Panchayats, raising awareness and building capacity at the grassroots level. Through conferences, policy dialogues, training programs, and collaborations with leaders and institutions, AIPP acts as a bridge between rural India and national policymakers.

The headquarters of AIPP is located at Khasra No. 368, Panchayat Dham, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Delhi – 110091, spread across 7.5 acres of dedicated space for development, dialogue, and democratic empowerment.

At AIPP, we believe that true democracy begins at the village level—and we are committed to ensuring that every voice is heard and every village is empowered.
